On a vast beach in Kenya, among coconut palms and sand dunes, lies an idyllic tropical beach retreat and home. This minimalist style design is the perfect balm for the extreme heat of the African climate and for those wishing an easy escape route from the hustle and bustle of a busy life.
The house itself belongs to famed Italian designer Marzia Chierichetti who also runs the Be Clever project, a company which she created to keep herself occupied while her husband was on safari in the bush with clients.
The Be Clever project is focused on eco-design and it also runs a dedicated workshop to help local Kenyan artisans to use their creativity to support their families. They have since opened a design shop in Mambrui Beach offering the various products which they have designed and produced.
